I really hope this is true! There is no doubt fans will like it! And even non Spuffy fans will like it if it’s not about Buffy anymore...It would be good to watch something about Spike today. No Buffy and No Angel just Spike in a completely new area...maybe New York? He would be perfect for New York!!! :)

Thursday 27 January 2005, by Anonymous :

It never ceases to amaze me. Spike/ Marsters still has such an enormous following - I suspect greater than that for Angel/ Boreanaz. These guys really don’t seem to have a finger on the pulse if they haven’t even considered this.

Thursday 27 January 2005, by Pixie :

He never *thought* about that???!! Omg...

Thursday 27 January 2005, by deborahc :

David Janollari can’t possibly be that clueless...can he? How can he be utterly oblivious to Spike’s/JM’s appeal? Sorry. I don’t buy it. I knew they were dense when they cancelled AtS (and postively imbicilic to put a show like "The Mountain" in it’s place), but come on!

Thursday 27 January 2005, by Anonymous :

i dont want a Spike movie. illyria cordy ne body but over obssessed much spuke.

Thursday 27 January 2005, by cat_amused :

James Marsters did mention the possibility of a Spike movie when he as in Australia last year. I really hope it happens. My take is that Angel got really really popular close to the end because Spike crossed over.

James Marsters... the man is hot.

Thursday 27 January 2005, by Anonymous :

Don’t hold your breath.

Although Spike was one of my favorite characters, (Hell, he was my favorite especially interacting together with Drucilla.)

I’m afraid, "We may give some thought to the Spike movie." is the same as the corporate, "We’ll do a study on the matter and report back ." which means they’ll put it off until Hell serves ice tea...

Thursday 27 January 2005, by Anonymous :

oh spike , spike, i’m sick of spike! the point is not just make a movie with anyone!

Thursday 27 January 2005, by Rick :

I don’t find myself very excited at the prospect of a Spike TV movie. I want to know what has happened to everyone, not just Spike. I really don’t think the character could pull off a weekly series when I first heard that rumour and I don’t think a movie with just him would be that interesting. I always found both Angel and Buffy to be about an ensemble cast and I haven’t changed my views on that.

Thursday 27 January 2005, by Anonymous :

SPUKE? Spike puke? I bet thousands of gals would pay thousands for SPUKE. :D ok gross thought, sorry. But I didn’t think of it first!

Thursday 27 January 2005, by Anonymous :

I’d rather have a Faith or Willow movie. There would be a better chance of future btvs-universe movies if the ratings were good and while Spike DOES have a loyal fanbase, there are just as many fans that can’t stand him.

Thursday 27 January 2005, by Lara :

See, I would die for more Spike, but I’m not sure a solely Spike TV-Movie would work. Spike is a great character because he’s always been the underdog— always bested by Angelus, Buffy, the Chip, Buffy again, his soul, and Angel. Part of his appeal is that he’s always forced to fight something, and that characters we love are against him. If he was the main character— especially by himself— it just wouldn’t be the same.

Anyhow, I kinda think this is B.S. What Ausiello said, not the article— if it hadn’t occured to him, he’s not gonna decide to make a movie just cuz a reporter suggested it.

Basically, I refuse to get my hopes up until I hear some definite pro-Spike news.

Thursday 27 January 2005, by greg :

just a thought. I think an Angelus/Darla/Spike/Drusilla movie would be way cool! I mean there’s just so much history about them that we don’t know, it would be really great if the blanks were filled in in a movie. its not gonna happen, but i can dream. to be honest the idea of just a spike movie doesn’t get me too excited either. he needs to have the other characters to piss off, otherwise it’ll just seem pointless. also having a buffy related movie with no ’buffy summers’ just makes me feel empty.

Thursday 27 January 2005, by Anonymous :

I agree that Spike is a great character, but only because he had so much to play off of. Without the "goody two-shoes" kinda characters for him to butt heads with, he’s just a one-note vampire. When it all comes down to it, these are ensemble shows, and without the ensemble, I don’t think they’d work. Now, make a movie centered around him, and toss in some other characters from the two shows... and then you’d have a hell of a ride. Just my two cents...

And Drusilla better show up, because he was never better than when he had her around.

Thursday 27 January 2005, by Anonymous :

If having Spike on Angel did nothing for the ratings as the WB expected, then why would they even consider making a TV movie around him? Sorry, I like JM but they’d have to change so much of Spike’s ’character’ to make him into the lead we wouldn’t recognise him. Do we need yet another version of Spike? I’d perfer to keep my memories happy ones of a show I loved than see it diminished in some watered down spin off at this stage.

I WANT A BIG SCREEN MOVIE NOT A 2 OR 4 HOUR MESS LIKE THEY DID TO FARSCAPE!

Thursday 27 January 2005, by J2U :

Ding Damn Dong! Does anyone really beleive there is life on planet WB? and face it folks untill our multi-talented misanthropist, Joss, returns to the forge and hammers the components of writing, acting, prod.design, into the machine it takes to spin us back into the sweet insanity that is the best video entertainment in human history-were screwed! Damn it Joss!! GET BUSY!

Thursday 27 January 2005, by Trish :

Oh god. We didnt already get enough spike in season 6 and 7 of Buffy, now they want to make a Spike movie? I’m sorry, I know he seems appealing to alot of people, but c’mon! Thats just like Spike getting the shanshu over ANGEL! How long has Angel been redeeming himself, while spike was too busy making people turn against eachother, or almost raping someone he claimed to love. And when he did get his soul, he didnt try redeeming, he kept rubbing it in peoples face, and saying he got it FOR someone.. I wouldnt really be interested in seeing a Spike movie. What would be better, if DB was available, would be a movie about Angel finally getting his shanshu, after all hes been through, and hes been redeeming alot longer than Spike ever has.

Thursday 27 January 2005, by Anonymous :

A Spike movie wont happen. He is only good as a second string. His ’I tried to rape you but Im still the only one you can trust’ thing for Buffy. And his ’making fun of you and driving you nuts’ thing for Angel proves that Spike only plays well not the main star. Main stars have the say on a show, they lead the story. Spike is only good rebelling against others. Also recall that none of the casts (even the guy who played Wood) wanted to come back to be on a Spike show. That and a Faith show was the first thing Joss tried to sell. And no one wanted it, not any network, let alone the WB. Plus ME is not even around any more but in name.

Thursday 27 January 2005, by Anonymous :

Well he sure draws attention, either positive or negative, you can’t ignore him. And that’s what they want, people’s attention. And there is no way on earth that this guy didn’t think of a Spike movie before. He’s blowing smoke as there wont be any at all. They never intended to do any in the first place.

Thursday 27 January 2005, by Anonymous :

I hope it has other characters too. Xander, Willow, Giles, Lorne, Gunn ...

Friday 28 January 2005, by Susan Stowe :

I was surprised to hear this was such a revelation given the WB’s enthusiasm about having James Marsters come aboard for AtS S5. What can fans do to help encourage the concept?

Friday 28 January 2005, by Miguel :

Love the coat. Where can you get Spike Black Lether jacket? Anybody? (saw something a ways back in Tijuana, but those scare me. And had "studs", pockets & such).

NY, Carla? Nah. Send Billy to Middle East. "The Hunt for Usamma".

Friday 28 January 2005, by fluffyslippers :

i hate to tell you but if you check out the web...any search on "david boreanaz" there are tons of pages dedicated to him....just like there are for james marsters. i liked spike’s character but he was no angel and i doubt i’d jump to watch a tv movie all around spike’s character. just my thoughts but hey, you asked

Friday 28 January 2005, by Vince :

Nobody can deny that Spike is the most popular character in the Buffyverse. Saying that a spike spin off or tv movie wouldn’t do good or be crap is simply silly

Friday 28 January 2005, by berri22222 :

Here’s a thought: Spike and Andrew. throw in a couple of newbie slayers like Rona or the Mandiran chick some slight damseling (ie people saving Andrew and some nameless hapless victims in Cleveland and hey, there’s a new show. It’s better then some of the other stuff they try and shove down our throats and call "quality programing" Plus, this took less time and money to concieve.

Friday 28 January 2005, by Anonymous :

Spike was only appearing to be great, cuz in his favor they trashed and bashed the others into the ground. Just compare Willow in AS4 with BS7. Or how Xander and Buffy were treated in S6, waay OOC.

Friday 28 January 2005, by Anonymous :

Spike, Xander, Faith, Illyria and Andrew with a cameo from Willow and Giles. It’s the best. And please NO Buffy!

Friday 28 January 2005, by Anonymous :

Spike doesn’t have to have the standard lead role. Just let him be as he always has beeb. He needs characters around him the pulls the interesting part out of him and give depth. Xander and Faith worked the best IMO. The chemistry between Spike and Angel was boring and non-existent in contradiction between Angelus and Spike. But, then again Angelus is the superiour character over Angel.

Saturday 29 January 2005, by Anonymous :

Why is everyone constantly saying "A Spike movie wouldn’t work without other characters" Who said there wouldn’t be other characters? ’Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ didn’t just feature Buffy, it had a minimum of 5 regular cast members. It wasn’t called ’Buffy and friends’ Same with ’Angel’ Angel wasn’t the only character in the show named after him. It wasn’t called ’Angel, Cordelia, Doyle’ or anything like that, but it had equally important cast members. Who’s to say the Spike movie or spin off would feature only Spike?

Saturday 29 January 2005, by Anonymous :

This man is seriously blowing smoke.. no way has he not concidered a movie centered around Spike. Hell even Joss Whedon has has approached James Marsters about doing a Spike movie down the road.. along with other movies involving other characters. Spike is a popular character.. rather it’s postive or negative he sparks interest and thats important. I’d love to see the Jossverse continue in any way (Except a Bangel movie.. I don’t need to see reunion 10,000,00 Blah!) But since Spike is my favorite I definitly want him to be a part of it.

Sunday 30 January 2005, by STARGAZER :

spike! yaya! i’ve heard things, but i seriously don’t think its gonna happen, though i’d like to take this time to say, i think that people who don’t like certain charactors (not that i don’t luvv spike) should complain about them, cause i mean i don’t really like Dawn, or lorne or cordy, but i’m not complaing about them all the time, also, i think they should make the movies with charactors from buffy too, e.g. Oz(yummy) and dru. exc...

Sunday 30 January 2005, by cherylynn :

If anybody has any doubt about the quality of content in a Spike centric series or movie just check out the fanfiction sites. When you sift through it all to the really great stories ideas and essays, there is no further proof needed of a spontanious legend with a contemporary dialogue that is deep and fasinating. And Hey isnt that what we loved about both shows

Sunday 30 January 2005, by Brianna :

Spike sparks interest for me because he’s a rich and amazing character. He works as a comic relief ,as a romantic lead, as a bad guy, and as a champion.. so many facets are in this character. He can be snarky and loveable and ambigious all at the same time.. and thats interesting for many fans. Yes I think there should be other characters involved.. I wouldn’t want to just see the return of Spike (Even though he’s my favorite character) my picks would be Andrew, Illyria, and maybe a visit from Giles and Buffy.

Joss has talked about making movies centered around several characters, Spike, Angel, Willow.. ect.. so yes it appears Joss does think James/Spike can hold his own in a movie.

I REALLY hope this is true!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve been dying without my weekly Spike, seriously. I love this character this much that it hurts. SPIKE MOVIE PLEASE!

Wednesday 2 February 2005, by BloodyAwfulPoet :

I don’t see it happening, but if it did it would kick some serious bloody bottom. (I censored that, by the way)

Thursday 3 February 2005, by I LOVE SPIKE :

SPIKE ROX. ANGEL SUX. BUFFY SUX. FAITH SUX. EVERYONE SUCK! A SPIKE MOVIE WILL BE GREAT EVEN WITHOUT THEM! HE IS HOT- OTHER HOT VAMPIRES NEEDED THEN IT IS FIXED!

Saturday 5 February 2005, by Anonymous :

To the person going *nana* to ED about Tru Calling. You act like JW doesnot have shows canceled which he did. Honestly in the current TV climate a Faith spinoff would of probably ended up canceled. Then ED wouldnot even be remembered for that great character Faith was at least now she still has that. I dont believe they never thought about a Spike movie. They are blowing smoke up *certain* dumb fans butts. If they thought it would make them huge money they woul do it.

Sunday 6 February 2005, by Amanda :

Ok, you Spike-haters are really starting to piss me off now. If you don’t want to watch a movie with him as the main character, don’t f-ing watch it! And don’t sit here and say you "tried of him," cuz if you really do not want more of Spike then that’s fine. No one is forcing you to hear about him or watch him on tv. That is your choice, you free will. There are plenty of us that do want more of him. And to who made the comment about Spike only being a supporting character who couldn’t be a main character; you are off your rocker. Not only is he one of the most complex and interesting character on the show, we (his fans) love him! We can’t wait for a Spike movie cuz we know it will be great and James Marsters will be amazing in it. He doesn’t need other people to be great, he can do it all on his own. Also I agree that Dru should come back in it too, not to be with Spike but just cuz I love her character. She tends to make people crazy and stir up trouble but she is a heck of a lot of fun. Ok, rant over...

Sunday 6 February 2005, by Anonymous :

Cant’t wait...

Monday 7 February 2005, by gottarhyme :

James has always indicated that he would be prepared to play Spike again...He is coming to Australia in July, hopefully he wil have some good news by then. I really hope it will happen, and that neither SMG or DB will be involved. I am so over them both.

Tuesday 8 February 2005, by Anonymous :

Amanda, that’s what you get when you bash other characters who are not Spike or don’t like Spike for years.

Tuesday 8 February 2005, by Anonymous :

Even Buffy was trashed and bashed into the ground to make Spike look great. He’s nothing without the bashing of other characters! That’s a fact!

Tuesday 8 February 2005, by Amanda :

"Amanda, that’s what you get when you bash other characters who are not Spike or don’t like Spike for years."

What?

"Even Buffy was trashed and bashed into the ground to make Spike look great. He’s nothing without the bashing of other characters! That’s a fact!"

That is NOT a fact, I really don’t know where your getting that conclusion from. ok, the season that you say Buffy was "bashed" as you put it, was season 6, right? Did the Spike then really seen as a "great" character, was he praised and loved? No. He was treated like shit that whole time, the only season he even got a little praise was near the end of season 7 and even then he wasn’t seen as "great" cuz of the so called "bashing," it was because of the good he has done. Spike it the type of character that wont take shit from people and will say what he thinks. He’s not the kind to bit his tongue and take it. And if you really think he has no plot other then putting people down then you don’t pay much attention to the show do you. If this were really true then Joss would have dusted his ass long ago, but he hasn’t because of the complexity and intrigue of Spike. So if you plan to stay then you better get used to this cuz Spike and the love we, his fans, have for him is not going anywhere.

Wednesday 9 February 2005, by Sylva :

I’m from holland and here we have two kinds of fans, the angel fans and the spike fans. And I think that the spike fans would really like to see a show or movie with spike as the main character. so if it not to much trouble? (even though that means that James Marster has to bleach his hair again :) )

Friday 11 February 2005, by Anonymous :

And what good has Spike done actually. He’s a manipulating stalker, in S5, S6 and S7.

He tried to kill everybody in Sunnydale in S6 by being the ’doctor’. He didn’t give a damn about Xander, Willow, Anya or Dawn. He fucked Anya the first time he could, and didn’t give a fucking damn about Xander’s feelings. Or Buffy’s. Everything he did was for his obsession: Buffy. Including the soul. He killed thirteen innocent girls, with his newly acquired soul. Getting a soul has it’s consequences, but Spike doesn’t give a damn about consequences. He punched Xander in the face when he tried to help him. He threatened to kill Robin. He was a total selfish asshole in the kitchen scene in Touched.

And oh, did he ever thank Xander and Giles for saving his life back in S4? Never. Did he ever said sorry for the times he has tried to kill them? No. How can you expect to be treated nicely if you can’t do it yourself?

Friday 11 February 2005, by Anonymous :

You think Spike is the only one who gets underappreciated?

Just one example: Xander was cut in his guts in First Date. He could have been mortally wounded. But, Buffy was more interested for Spike’s little bump on his head instead.

Or what about: Spike’s the only one Buffy could trust her back with. She said that to Giles while Xander and Willow were in the hospital after had lost his eye.

Saturday 12 February 2005, by Amanda :

Oh what cuz all the Scoobies are just so nice to him? NOT! They have always looked down on and treated Spike poorly. If it were me, I wouldn’t care about those people that don’t particularly like me either. And he didn’t try to kill anyone during S6, he was called the doctor cuz of that demon black-market thing, not cuz he was killing (which he wasn’t/couldn’t). And another thing when he killed those people in S7, it was the First that made him do it not his freewill. I think someone (you) needs to watch seasons 4-7 again with a more open-mind and this time pay attention…

Saturday 12 February 2005, by Amanda :

He didn’t have to eggs to raise them and have them to kill all of Sunnydale, he had them to sell on the black-market. Keep in mind that this was all while he didn’t have a soul, no remorse. And if you think about it the Scoobies did trust souless Spike more then souless Angel...

Saturday 4 June 2005, by rt :

i’m glad you’re not getting a movie :) the reason I stopped watching buffy is because there was too much SPUKE. a spike movie wouldn’t do well because theres the vocal half who LOVE SPUKE and only half of the fans would be a neilson failure. The rest of us can’t stand him. The reason they think most people love him is because they are the ones who write in the letters while the rest of us just turn off the tv.

Thursday 29 September 2005, by scooby fan :

If the Spike series was set before he knew Buffy, and when Angel’s soul was returned and they were estranged would be great because everyone loved Spike the bad guy. If it was set in the present it would ruin the end of Buffy if he got it on with other girls because he loved her. Angel getting together with Cordelia didn’t make sense when Buffy was meant to be the ’one’ it just spoiled things.
