20,000 ACCA Audit students questioned about Firefly

Firefly advertised, kinda, to thousands of accountancy students last December...

...only a "kinda" because it didn’t make clear where the absolutely blatant references came from.

I work for a major publisher of accountancy and finance textbooks. The folks who write the sample questions like to name the fictitious companies in their scenarios after areas of interest - hence when proofreading, studio checking, typesetting etc. I make mental giggle-lists of references to, e.g., Star Wars, high opera, Red Dwarf, Scottish geography and in one case the small daughters of one of our tax seniors.

Every single question on the actual examination given to at least 20,000 ACCA Audit students worldwide last December was a Firefly reference. (Unfortunately only 31% of the students passed, but you can’t have everything. The misspelling of Wash’s name is more serious.) Said questions are now being reproduced in a question bank for new students, and shall be for some years.

Link is at http://www.accaglobal.com - "December 2006 questions" quite low down the right list, or http://www.accaglobal.com/pdf if you want to go straight to the PDF question paper.

I love Browncoats in high places.
