Angel 4x13 Salvage - Wildfeed

Wednesday 5 March 2003, by Webmaster

Things pick up where they left off at the end of "Calvary." Angelus continues stalking Lilah in the Hyperion. He comes upon her dead body in the hallway, disappointed someone ruined his fun.

The others return to the hotel. Wes and Gunn search the hallways. They find Angelus feeding on Lilah’s body. Gunn tosses an ax at him, misses. Angelus jumps out the window and escapes.

Connor pulls the crossbow bolt out of Cordy’s leg. Gunn comes down and tells the others Angelus got away, he killed Lilah. Cordy smiles to herself and says, "It’s started."

Everyone looks on as Gunn and Wes wrap Lilah’s body in plastic. Connor wants to know why they don’t go after Angelus. Wes says they don’t have to, he’ll be back. Cordy points out they’re the ones he wants to hurt. Fred suggests they make a plan to try to protect themselves. Gunn says if Angelus wants in, he’ll find a way in. Lorne suggests the demon anti-violence spell he used at Caritas. He says he can call the Furies. Connor isn’t keen on that idea, pointing out magicks never work.

Fred asks Cordy why the spell to return Angel’s soul didn’t work. Gunn asks Lorne how he could have read Angelus so wrong, thinking his soul was back.

Connor says they have to destroy Lilah’s body, she could have been turned. Gunn doesn’t think there was enough time. Wes agrees with Connor. He pulls Gunn’s ax out of the wall and offers to do what has to be done.

Angelus arrives at a demon bar. Some of the vamps recognize him, things get suddenly quiet in the bar. Angelus announces his return to the applause of the others. A vamp woman asks if he remembers her since he was the one that turned her in the 1800’s. He stakes her and moves to the bar. He tells a demon he’s looking for the Beast. The demon wants an autograph. Angelus isn’t in the mood. A vampire, Paco, offers that he’s seen the Beast, he knows where it hangs out. Angelus directs him to lead him there.

At the hotel, Wes peels the plastic sheeting away from Lilah. He brushes his hand across her forehead. Her eyes open. She asks him if this isn’t what he wanted, her out of the way. She figures this makes his life simpler. He assures her it’s not what he wanted.

Lilah gets up from the table and suggests Wes hated himself for loving being with her. She thinks they both knew it would end messy. She tells him he’s free, no longer burdened by the shame of their relationship. Wes doesn’t figure it was a relationship. Lilah sees things differently. Wes doesn’t believe she ever loved him.

He looks back at the table and sees Lilah’s body still laying there, wrapped in plastic. He says she couldn’t love him. He turns and sees the vision of Lilah who tells him they’ll never know now.

Paco leads Angelus to where he last saw the Beast, a warehouse. Angelus searches the place while Paco and another demon stay behind.

Lorne tells Gunn and Fred what the Furies say they’ll need for the spell as he continues his phone conversation with them. He hangs up and tells the others they have what they need to do the spell. Connor is impatient to get it done so they can go hunt Angelus. Fred reminds him Wes said they shouldn’t go after him. Connor isn’t keen on listening to Wes or anyone else.

Fred reminds Connor Angel’s soul is still somewhere, they still have a chance to find it and restore it. Connor starts to leave the hotel to find Angelus. Cordy tries to stop him. She faints. Connor comes back and helps her upstairs.

Gunn figures Connor will go after Angelus the first chance he gets. Lorne thinks he’ll get himself killed.

Faith enters the prison yard. She works out on the bars, watching as a woman approaches, concealing a weapon. Faith kicks an ornate handled dagger out of the woman’s hand, then beats her down. The woman tells her it wasn’t personal, she needed the money. A guard breaks up the fight. Faith says it was self-defense. The guard says he knows, he saw it.

At the hotel, Wes stares at Lilah’s body while the vision of Lilah tells him she understands why he can’t just do it. He couldn’t save her from herself. He wonders if she really believes that. She says she’s not there, just a figment of his imagination, so clearly it’s what he thinks. She says he always thought, no matter what, that he could help her find redemption. She figures that was Angel’s influence. She says it’s too late for her and tells him to get it over with. Wes offers apologies then chops Lilah’s head off. The vision is quieted and disappears.

Angelus continues searching the large warehouse for the Beast. He notes the Beast’s dagger and the fact the Beast had led him there with the scent of Lilah’s blood. The Beast shows up and tells him its Master has requested Angelus. Angelus reaches for the dagger. The Beast tells him not to touch it. It confirms that everything that it has done has been at the behest of its Master, to bring Angelus out.

Angelus asks when he’ll meet the Master. The Beast tells him it will convey the orders for now. Angelus isn’t interested. He doesn’t intend to take orders from a minion. He needles the Beast a bit about being a servant. The Beast takes a few swings at him, missing. Angelus laughs at the effort, leaps up to the rafters and disappears.

Cordy shows up, not happy the Beast was defeated so easily. She’s angry it didn’t get Angelus to agree to work with them. She tells it to be patient, Angelus will come around and if not, the Beast can tear him apart. She looks up and tells it to "Give mama some sugar" as the Beast leans down to her and kisses her on the lips.

At the hotel, Lorne casts the sanctuary spell. Nothing happens. Gunn wonders if it worked. Lorne isn’t sure. Connor figures it’s the same as usual, failure. Lorne reaches out to swat Connor in the head, only to be knocked backward. He realizes the spell worked.

Wes tells the others they’re going to bring Angelus in alive. Gunn isn’t so sure it’s a good idea. Wes figures they need Angel back to head off what’s happening. He knows who they need to help them get him back.

Wes arrives at the prison and meets with Faith. Things are a bit uncomfortable between them. Wes asks if she knows what’s been happening in LA. She says she’s been keeping up with the news. Wes tells her she’s needed. Faith points out she’s a bit tied up. Wes tells her Angel is gone, Angelus is back.

Faith tells Wes to step away from the security glass. She dives through it, takes out the guards, grabs Wes and dives out the window,. landing on a car several stories below. They run.

On the drive to LA, Wes brings Faith up to speed on what’s been happening with the gang. She’s trying to figure out Connor, Angel has a teenage son who was born a year ago. Faith wonders what they were thinking bringing Angelus back. Wes says they thought it was the only way to kill the Beast. Faith tells him she won’t kill Angelus. Angel was the only one who never gave up on her, she won’t give up on him.

Wes agrees with that. He asks if she’s up to it. He pulls the car to a stop and wonders if she’s a little rusty. He suggests they find out. A vamp pulls Faith out of the car. A couple more attack. One of the vamps recognizes the Slayer and takes off running. Faith dusts the other two.

Wes arrives back at the hotel with Faith. He introduces her. Faith lets everyone know Wes told her about them. Cordy comes downstairs, snarks at Faith. Faith isn’t in the mood, telling her she’s short on time, they can hash it out later. She tells Gunn he’ll be with her, Connor will be with Wes. She tells Gunn to take the tranquilizer gun. If she can’t take Angelus down, she expects him to dart him.

Connor isn’t liking the plan. Faith lets him know she’s calling the shots. Connor doesn’t argue, impressed with Faith’s take charge demeanor.

Angelus catches a young girl being chased by vamps. He starts to feed on her, hears the vamps talking about the Slayer being in town. He picks up a pay phone, cheerfully greets Dawn and asks if her sister is home. Once he gets the answer, he hangs up and says, "It’s the other one."

Connor, Gunn, Faith and Wes walk the streets hunting for Angelus. Connor asks Faith why Slayers are always girls. She figures they’re just better at it. They come upon the warehouse where Angelus had met with the Beast. Connor tells them he was there recently. They start to check the place out. A vamp jumps out, Connor dusts it.

Faith isn’t comfortable with Connor’s eagerness to kill. She tells Gunn to take Connor back to the hotel. He tries to argue with that by fighting her, she points a crossbow to his throat, reminding him she’s a killer. Connor leaves. Gunn has a Faith appreciation moment as he leaves to take Connor back.

Faith and Wes continue searching for clues to Angelus’ whereabouts. Faith notes "Welcome Faith" roughly spray painted on a crate outside of the entrance to the warehouse.

Wes is attacked by a couple of vampires, keeping him busy outside of the buildding, as Faith finds Angelus inside. Angelus taunts her, staying out of sight. Faith readies the crossbow as she descends the steps, further into the warehouse. Angelus continues leading her.

Angelus shows himself. The Beast also shows itself. Angelus laughs. He introduces the Slayer to the Beast. The Beast isn’t happy the Slayer was brought there. Angelus figures it might want to do something about her considering Faith will mess up their plans.

Faith and the Beast fight as Angelus looks on, enjoying the show. Faith hits the Beast repeatedly, having no effect. It hits her back, sending her flying. Fight continues.

Meanwhile, Wes is still occupied by the vamps outside of the warehouse.

The Beast beats Faith to the floor, stomps on her, picks her up and beats her down some more. Angelus continues his running commentary, figuring it’s time to break things up.

The Beast stalks toward Faith, prepared to finish her off, not impressed with her lack of strength. Angelus comes up behind the Beast and drives the bone dagger into its back. The Beast explodes in a flash of bright light.

The sun returns. The vamps Wes was fighting burn to ashes. Wes heads for the warehouse.

Angelus notes the sun outside the window, not happy the sun is back. He says he thought the part about killing the Beast bringing the sun back was just part of Angel’s "retarded fantasy." He prepares to finish Faith off. Faith grabs a length of chain hanging from a pulley above. She shoves it toward the window, breaking it. She ends up in a wash of bright sunlight that streams through the broken window. Angelus assures her he’ll be back to finish what was started.

At the hotel, Lorne, Gunn, and Fred enjoy the sun in the garden. Connor is impressed, figuring Faith must have defeated the Beast. He asks where Cordy is. Fred tells him she’s in her room.

Cordy looks out the window at the sunshine, not happy. Connor comes into the room, she pretends to be happy about the return of the sun. Connor gushes about Faith. Cordy notes, "A weakness for Slayers, you’re definitely his son." She sits on the bed, Connor sits next to her. She tells him they’re having a baby as she lifts her shirt and shows him her pregnant belly. She takes his hand and lays it on her stomach. A stunned Connor doesn’t understand. Cordy tells him they’re connected now, forever, as she leans in and kisses him, pushing him down onto the bed.
