ANGEL Viewers Raise Over $14,000 to Feed Those in Need But The WB Ignores Challenge to Meet Donations.

Angel’s Food Drive Honors TV Series ANGEL By Helping Those in Need While Fighting to Save Show.

(PRWEB) April 14, 2004 — Angel’s Food Drive, a charitable campaign organized by viewers of the critically acclaimed TV series ANGEL, has raised over $14,000 on behalf of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. The Angel’s Food Drive campaign is a tribute to the show’s theme of helping those in need and serves to demonstrate support for the renewal of the recently cancelled show ANGEL, on The WB Network.

Angel’s Food Drive organizers issued a challenge to The WB Network to match viewer donations with a donation of its own. Via representative Keith Marder, The WB Network offered only these comments:

"The WB Network appreciates the loyal support the fans of ’Angel’ and ’Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ have offered for nearly a decade. It’s wonderful that they have focused their efforts in such a positive manner, raising valuable funds for a cause as worthy as the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank."

In addition to their fund raising efforts for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, organizers of Angel’s Food Drive chipped in and ordered two huge cakes for the ANGEL cast and crew - enough to feed 200. The cakes, which sported the Angel’s Food Drive logo and web address along with special messages of support, were delivered right to the ANGEL soundstages at Paramount Studios in Hollywood on April 7th. Photos of ANGEL cast and crew on set with the cakes can be seen at www.angelsfooddrive.com.

Angel’s Food Drive will also be sending 1000 balloons emblazoned with the text ’Save Angel. Help the Helpless. www.angelsfooddrive.com’ to 20th Century Fox Television, the producers of ANGEL, to encourage them to continue The ANGEL-verse created by Joss Whedon. The balloons will be delivered on Wednesday April 14, the day that the final six all new episodes of ANGEL return.
