Spinoff of: "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"

It’s no easy task being the show born of a cult icon, but "Angel" — which followed the ensouled vampire (David Boreanaz) to Los Angeles, where he set up his own otherworldly detective agency — did its parent show proud. We’d even go out on a heretical limb and say that by the end of their respective runs, "Angel" might even have been the better show. Any show that could make Cordelia Chase (Charisma Carpenter) into a sympathetic character had to be doing something right.
