Looks like Joss wants SMG to guest in the second run of sweeps, he may direct the season final , he wants this season of Angel to be episodic in a similar way to early Buffy, in the sense of of trying to resolve a conflict in each episode. But it will still contain the same story and character arcs as before.

Also in the Nick Brendon interview, he says he may do guest shots on Angel.
