Ok thats incorrect. The character ’Chloe’ made up the names for the character ’Buffy’ as she narrated which she mentioned at the start ’By the way, I changed the names to protect the vapiod’. Lana got heat vision by drinking the blood of clark. Vampires are known for sucking the ’life force’ of beings, so it is perfectly reasonable that she gets his powers. Anyway, seems like that guy didnt even watch the ep, just being critical.

I dont see that. I thought it was a fun episode and they paid a little homage to Buffy. I see nothing wrong with that. Im sure Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville’s creators) know what buffy’s name is.
Oh I totally agree. The WB is just begging 2 get back the viewers it lost by cancelling Angel. Having James guest star was great,
but "Buffy Sanders" and "Theres no such thing as vampires." COME ON!!.. he couldnt even say that with a straight face!
Last nights episode was great! Loads of fun! I laughed so hard at James saying "Clark, there’s no such things as vampires." I wonder how many takes that line took - ha ha. Keep up the good work smallville! Go James!
I kinda have to agree tho. Why the WB would pay any homage to BtVS just confuses me. They did somewhat forced the show to move to UPN and they cancelled Angel. I think it’s kinda sad they have to rely on James Marsters’ fame in the Buffyverse to get us interested in Smallville. There are soo many commercials promoting James Marsters’ character, and yeah, a lot of us are Spike fans, so we’ll watch. It’s just that there were too many Buffy references to take the episode seriously. Buffy Sanders, the fact that Marsters says "..there are so such things as vampires’, and that the lead vampire girl resembles Harmony were distractions
I mean, I enjoyed the episode, but when I was watching it I couldn’t help but thinking about BtVS. I was supposed to be watching something about Smallville, yet it made me miss the Buffyverse and made me dislike the WB even more for taking it away.

You people are ridiculous. I cannot believe you guys thought that piece of crap was funny. The episode was alright, I suppose, but I was outraged at the Buffy Sanders (Buffy S.) referance. The James Marsters line was just fine, that was playing it up...it was funny. But adding the Buffy thing was inconsiderate. The WB just wants to get another dig in at the ’verse fans. Its what they do.
Now I’m just waiting for another vampire episode where they reference Angel. Oh, hot damn, if they did that I would fly my ass down to the WB and kick their pres. ass all over that building.

At first I was sure that the writers of Smallville were using the name "buffy" as a joke because James Marsters had joined the cast. But then in the episode they said that "Buffy" was just a name that was picked to cover the vampire’s true name. But then throughout the rest of the episode, even Lex called the main vampire Buffy. So I am very sure that the writters messed up somewhere in there. The main vampire’s name ACTUALLY WAS Buffy Sanders. So I have no clue why they would make the blonde reporter say that she was using "Buffy" as a code name when she actually wasn’t.
Am I missing something? I don’t think the WB is paying homage to Buffy, it’s the Smallville writers and staff. I’m sure they were not happy about Angel and BtVS being cancelled so why are people acting like this is hypocritical?
I thought the reason the other characters called the lead vamp "Buffy" was that we were supposed to see all the "Buffy-related" scenes as being told to us through Chloe’s eyes, even if she wasn’t in the scene. She’s writing a story that includes the "Buffy-stuff" that we see.
I liked the episode, and thought it was cute. I was angry at the WB, sure, about Angel, but I’m not going to cut off my nose despite my face, and refuse to enjoy my favorite Buffy actors if they appear on the WB. James looks great and is doing a great job. I’m going to be watching all season.
The episode was written by Stephen S. DeKnight. He wrote 5 episodes of Buffy and 12 of Angel (he was the guy who wrote that amazing fight between Spike and Angel). I doubt very much that he wrote it to "poke fun" at Buffy and Angel and the fact that the WB cancelled both of them. Wow....everybody just calm down.
Smallville is a good series, but I think its incredibly steriotypical. Their storylines have all been done before, but they exagerate the scenes to appeal to their characters. I’m sure we have all noticed that there are alot of sexual compelling scenes between the characters (Such as Lana and Clark). This is just another way to attract attention. And bringing James into the series, was another cry out to those that the WB lost when they cancelled Angel. "Buffy Sanders" was probably ment to be a cute referance to BtVS, but when I saw this, I was shocked. I mean, did the WB actually think this was going to work?
uhh herk must not have really watched the ep..if so he would have known that , because she had taken a sip of supermans blood it affected her...duh...the rabies she was infected by was caused by the bats being exposed to kryton..and the antidote that clark was holding in his hand..glowed green...a dead giveaway...and as for the remark about no such thing as vampires from professor fine...i am leaning towards that being a fun thing that they put in there concidering who james played in buffy..yeh the name of the head vampbitch..so herk..dont be a jerk...pay attention to what you are watching...frnimay

Lex had developed a serum against the vampire virus, and it contained (what else?) Kryptonite. Because of the syringe of kryptonite-laced serum, Clark was weakened and Lana was able to bite him.
This ep backfired bigtime. By using all the Buffy references SV just called attention to the fact that it is not, has never been & never will be even a fraction as good a series as Buffy - or AtS, for that matter. I don’t care who wrote it, these actors - with the exception of JM of course - just don’t have what it takes to pull off the satire/pop culture cross-reference thingy. Ergo, bad dialog decisions :=)
ok guys...smallville is a cheesy show..the only reason i’m watching is James Marsters otherwise i don’t have the patience to watch the dribble come out of the actors mouths...the episode was funny and the buffy mentions cute..like i said...it’s all about James...He...i think hes doing a great job..with a B- series.
Smallville has always been a guilty pleasure from which I am incapable of deriving intelligence, but that episode was just inane. The vampire thing, although backed up with an explanation, was too laughable to be taken seriously, but too goofy to be taken as wit. Yes, "slaying Buffy the vampire." We get it! Why does this show thing that type of dialogue is clever? Characters say things like that again and again. Like someone said, this show is not Buffy. And next week Lois shows off her boobs at a strip club just like she showed them off in a bikini a couple of episodes before. Damn, is this show cheap.
so we know the WB is stupid; it’s run by suits, that’s a given. i’d say it’s the show that’s paying homage to BTVS, or the writer(s), not digging at it; otherwise, why have james deliver the line? we all get the joke. if you want to dig, you have tom (as the hero...) deliver the line.
I would like to point out that Buffy from the TV show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is named Buffy Summers not Buffy Sanders. And the TV show "Smallville" said that Buffy Sanders was a guy not a girl.
