well, the title, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, does indicate there would be violence in it. its not exactly going to be a show that (and i quote Buffy on this one) "leads to hugs and puppies".
It really annoys me hwo they edit the violence really hrshly when showng re-runs on sky. if its that bad, why not show it after 9pm. i sure as hell would stay up to watch it or tape it if they actually showed the fight scenes in their fullest. I mean, i was watching ’The Harvest’ on channel five on saturday and it was after 8pm and they edited the violence loads. argh it really annoys me. Ok, i’m done ranting now...
Why are you guys giving the PTC any web time? They are just an upset group of idiots who just talk about bad tv to get their names in the paper.
Buffy and Angel have always been on their crap list. Hell wasent Dawnsons Creek listed as a bad show with them?
I am wondering if you guys have seen the time the PTC went on live tv after trashing the then WWF and they were shocked when the WWF stars such as the Rock called them on it.
The Rock was ten times smarter then them and checked his facts before hand. One PTC high up said the Rock was just a ’white hillbilly’ so his views didnt matter.
And that proved the PTC didnt even watch the Rocks interview. The Rock was never white in any way shape of form.
Plus the PTC ran a list of high up sponsers that the PTC said took off their adds from the WWF, after the PTC showed them clips of the WWF.
Funny how the same people (Burger King, Coke, Pepsi) said that they never pulled their adds from the WWF.
The PTC just likes to hear themselves talk and sound important.
*shudder* these are *ugh* and c’mon! Buffy is WAY tame compared to all of them!! My sis can watch that epi without a flinch and she gets squecked and scared faster than a mouse! I’m actually surprised they didn’t put the bathroom scene ... but I guess that disturbed JM more than the poeple who watched it. Still the clip in there is no WAY near these *shudder* some people are sick! Some range on pornografic!
Sites like Parentstv.com, seek to censor television. Yet censorship is the enemy of democracy. I wish that these "conservative" groups would realise that not every violent depiction is supporting the use of violence. I mean, violence already exists in society. It’s important for artists to be able to explore and comment on violence by depicting it in art. And to loosely quote The Simpsons: "violence existed long before the creation of tv. I did a little research and found out about this thing called the crusades. Horrible thing, thousands of people murdered".
The basis of democracy is "freedom of speech". In order for the public to be informed and active citizens, we must be able to express ourselves. Freedom of speech is not just about our voice. It’s about expressing our thoughts and feelings. And a most apt forum for expressing ourselves is "art".
It’s important for artists to be able to explore and comment on violence by depicting it in art. Democracy requires a diversity of opinions in order to create discussion and provoke thoughtful, active citizens. This is the only way to ensure equality and a better community for everyone.
First, the most important thing is to take all of these clips out of context. Second, pretend that violence never happens in the real world. Third, lump cable and broadcast tv together. Forth, set yourself up at the final arbiter of decency and taste. Fifth, take a long walk on a short pier.
Okay. I’m 15, and I don’t like all these graphic stuff. And I don’t mean in violence. That doesn’t bother me, I mean in the yanno "getting it on" scenes. But, OH MY FREAKING GOSH! These parents are freaking MORONS! Every SINGAL show listed up there is rated TV-14 (buffy is sometimes, mabey all the time)! They freaking watch these shows JUST to complain about them. If they were to say something like, "My kid told me that this and that happened" or "I had no idea my child was watching something like that." Then, their bad parents. If they’re so concerned. They need to watch what their kids are watching! So...THEIR BAD PARENTS!!! Freaking STUPID MORONS!!! If they don’t want their kids to watch them, THEN DON’T LET THEM! BLOCK THEM IDIOTS! What, so us teenagers aren’t allowed to have TV shows to watch? We kinda grew out of Rugrats a while ago. Speaking of, I’m surprised they haven’t put that on their. "OH! They showed a cartoon baby’s butt! Better try to get it yanked from air!" These parents need to get off their butts from infront of the TV and get jobs to occupy their time.
Lol, American TV. So touchy about whats on TV. Thats nothing compared to British TV. No wonder american people like Tom Green and Matt Gorening always mke comments about being glad ther able to swair when they came onto British TV.
Buffy doesn’t even compare to the sexual, or violent egde of those other shows. Besides South Park, all of the other shows are supposed to portray "real life" (don’t take that in the literal sense). I mean, come on, do they really think that we are gonna believe there is a creepy looking monster out in their back yard that is going to eat thier skin! However, to be raped at knife or gun point, that is something that can happen. Buffy portrays monsters and demons, the other shows try to portray reall people, in real situations (again, not that it is real). My suggestion, most of those shows are on after 8, if you don’t want your kids to see, then DON"T LET THEM SEE! You are the parent, you tell them what they can and can not see. I think the people who put all this together need to go get real jobs.

Here we go again. I can’t be bothered to down load the rubbish so I am guessing it’s when Narl snacked on Willow in the cave. That was auwsome and should have been nominated for some sort of special make-up effects award. I keep repeating this but Buffy (especially when watched in the right context) is not for kids. Buy the dvds and let them see it when they’re old enough to appreciate it! Are these people afraid to put their kids to bed at a proper time? - or are they too busy watching TV for things to complain about when they should be reading bedtime stories to their kids?
