Buffy Star Launches West End Ticket Offer

By Helen William, PA News

US TV star Alyson Hannigan today launched a major cut-price ticket deal aimed at boosting the number of UK theatregoers.

The Buffy The Vampire Slayer actress, who played Willow in the hit show, was joined by comedian Lee Evans at the third annual Get Into London Theatre! promotion, where tickets can be snapped up for between £10 and £25.

Tickets to more than 70 West End shows, including Bombay Dreams and Chicago, are being cut from today until March 28. There are also special deals for hotel stays and restaurant meals.

Hannigan, star of When Harry Met Sally which opens at the Haymarket Theatre on February 20, said: “This is one of the things that I thought I would always want to do.

“The theatres here are beautiful. I feel like I’m in a masterpiece just standing on that stage (the Haymarket) - it is just beyond words.”

Evans, who is joining the cast of Endgame, which opens on March 10, said: “The West End to me is just the melting pot of so much stuff that goes on. It always amazes me that it does not get more attention. It should be modernised and pushed forward more.”

Tickets are available online at www.GetintoLondonTheatre.co.uk or by calling 0870 906 3878 or 0870 840 2468.

Buffy star thrilled to be on London stage By Adam Ray

Alyson Hannigan, who starred Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series and is to make her West End debut, gushed with praise for London today, at the launch of a new theatre tickets offer.

Miss Hannigan and comedian Lee Evans, who is also to appear in the West End, joined Mayor Ken Livingstone today for the launch of the latest campaign to encourage more people to see West End shows.

More than 70 shows and dozens of restaurants and hotels are offering special deals as part of the promotion, with prices for some shows as little as 0510.

Hannigan, who will appear as Sally, alongside Luke Perry of "Beverly Hills 90210" fame, in the stage adaptation of the film "When Harry met Sally", said she had always dreamed of starring in a West End show.

"I am thrilled, I would have thought it would have taken me 20 years for this," she said today.

Miss Hannigan said she was amazed by the history of London compared with America, and loved travelling around the city by bus.

Her comments about buses were clearly to the satisfaction of the Mayor, who has spent millions subsidising bus services in the capital.

Lee Evans said the West End was a "melting pot", and that it should be modernised and "pushed forward".
