Buffy The Movie Screens in Los Angeles on April 5 and April 10, 2005

Friday 1 April 2005, by Webmaster

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (1992, 20th Century Fox, 86 min.) directed by Fran Rubel Kuzui. Kristy Swanson plays Buffy, a popular high school cheerleader who is unwittingly chosen to kill vampires. (This feature version was the inspiration for the later, wildly-popular "Buffy" TV series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.)

>> Also playing at the Aero on April 10.

  • I agree that the movie wasn’t nearly as good as the TV series, and that Fran Rubel Kuzui was a fool to listen to Donald Sutherland instead of Joss Whedon for all the tweaks she made to Joss’ script. But it’s still a concept that originated with Joss Whedon, and there are many, many moments in the movie that are trademarked Joss Whedon moments. It’s not all bad, and taken with a grain of salt, it serves as a wonderful backstory for the series itself.

I also recommend the graphic novel "The Origin", which is the movie re-told to make it parallel in tone to the TV series.

  • i hate that film..suck!
