In this 100th episode, Buffy must sacrifice herself in order to save the world and her sister, Dawn, whose blood has been used to open an interdimensional portal that promisees chaos and destruction. Buffy, who has been told by the spirit of the first slayer that her greatest gift is death, leaps through and closes the portal. Her tombstone would read, "Buffy Anne Summers, 1981 - 2001. She saved the world. A lot."

    The "most dramatic moment in television history" was not mentioned during the broadcast; apparently it occurred during a commercial break. As a result, the Emmy’s record for snubbing Buffy is untarnished.

    Also, this was a web site poll result, not an Emmy award. They would never stoop so low as to recognize a program that the unwashed masses had made into a cultural icon.

      Buffy has previously won at least two emmys in its run. One for makeup in "Innocence", and notably, one for Christophe Beck’s score for "Becoming, Part I".
