Treasury vampire

SPOT the link between Nick Macpherson, new Permanent Secretary at the Treasury, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Macpherson has been a Treasury man for two decades and already has an office there. When the makers of the programme were in London filming an episode about an evil sect, they chanced upon the new Treasury building for filming, and were, for some reason, given permission. So Macpherson’s office becomes the sect’s headquarters in the episode and is demolished by means of some impressive computer- generated imagery.

I AM taken to task for my suggestion yesterday that swimmers at the Hampstead Heath ponds are meekly paying into the “honesty machines” installed there by the Corporation of London. “On those rare occasions when a donation is being made, swimmers are prone to gather around the meter and watch the proceedings with fascination,” scoffs a self-styled “libertarian” from the United Swimmers Association of Hampstead Heath.

    Can you people actually READ English? All this article is saying (very clearly and succinctly) is that the Treasury building in London was used as the establishing shot of the Watcher’s Council building (in the episode Never Leave Me if you can be bothered checking before ranting on stupidly and pointlessly). By the way, "assimilate" means to learn, understand or absorb into a system. You cannot "assimilate" something to something else.

    If you wanna get real technical about using the word "gay", it really means "happy", not "stupid" or "dumb" or "homosexual". Not to mention, by saying that the synonyms for the word "gay" are "stupid" or "dumb" then you would have just offended someone that was, in fact, homo sexual. In other words, you just don’t make much of a valid point. The term "gay" is used in the United States freely and people aren’t offended when they use their brains and interperet it’s meaning depending on the context. Also... who cares what building they used for The Watchers Council?
