Charisma Carpenter fighting to be Wonder woman

Saturday 9 September 2006, by Webmaster

Millions of Cordy fans around the world call for star-spangled satin tights.

Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) told TV Guide that she’s still hoping Joss Whedon will get her the role of Wonder Woman on the silver screen.

Here’s an excerpt :

TVGuide.com : Is it with Joss Whedon, and you’re holding a golden lasso? [Carpenter’s name often comes up in discussions about the Buffy creator’s in-the-works Wonder Woman feature film.]

Charisma Carpenter Carpenter : We’re working on that [Carpenter possibly playing Wonder Woman]. I’m working on it, I’m working on it...

Charisma needs to let this one go. Joss has said several times that he’s looking for someone in her early to mid 20s to play Diana. Nothing against Charisma, but she’s now in her mid-30s, a decade or more too old. Joss is expecting this to be a trilogy or more which will take probably 10 years or more to complete, so he wants an actress who can age with the series (remember, the character is supposed to be immortal). Besides, if it were to go to a 30-something actress, I think Robia LaMorte would be a better suited choice than Charisma. But since it’s not, my money is on Morena Baccarin or Alexa Davalos to get the part.

I think she needs to remind people that she was in the running for the role long before Joss got involved in the project, and she is hoping for the role *dispite* Joss involvement, not because of it.

About your guewsses, you might be right with Alexa Davalos, Joss always has a week for people he has already worked with (except CC appearently)
