David Boreanaz - "Bones" Tv Series - No ’Bones’ About It...

Monday 28 August 2006, by Webmaster

...David Boreanaz is amazing in the Fox series’ second season, says Ken Tucker. Plus: EW’s editor at large gives other reasons to live this week. Watching the Bones costar radiate seemingly effortless cool in the series’ new season gives Tucker a Reason To Live this week

David Boreanaz in Bones

Fox, Wednesdays, 8-9 p.m.

The focus of the show remains, of course, on Emily Deschanel’s beautifully odd, perpetually quizzical features - she’s one of the few TV-series actors who can convey pensive thought without looking as though she’s trying to remember her Whole Foods shopping list. But in the series’ second season, premiering Aug. 30, Boreanaz achieves a whole new level of serene insouciance: He seems so relaxed, so confident in his ability to charm you, that he’s morphed into a glorious cross between Dean Martin and George Clooney. Few actors are as much fun to watch delivering even the most commonplace crime-show dialogue.

  • I was already so impatient for Season 2 of Bones to begin. Now Ken Tucker’s review is making it torture and Wednesday is seeming like a million years away!!!

  • The first show of season 2 was everything described in this article. DB was so calm and focused. That tan leather jacket so suited his casual look. All the background stuff on Booth was nice. Brennan’s new boss Dr. Camille “Cam” Saroyan gives the show a different feel, I like her. You can see the quality in the special effects in the opening sequance. The rail crash looked good. Introducing the Saroyan cast in a situation you would expect Brennan to be in with the severed arm was a nice touch especially using the arm’s own watch to time finding its owner.

I’m not sure about the darker set lighting though. I liked the open look of last seasons lab space. I felt it ended a little oddly. Is telling the lawyer woman she should win the case as far as the main case goes? I just felt cheated a little. I know when you take away the credits sequence the running time is short for some stories but we still need resolutions that feel complete.
