’The Crow: Wicked Prayer’ tackles revenge the 4th time around

THEY say revenge is a dish best served cold. "The Crow" has certainly mined this Mexican proverb en route to transcending itself to one of pop mythdom’s most enduring creations. Likewise in the celluloid world, James O’Barr’s gothic tale of revenge reincarnated has aggrandized itself into Hollywood’s favorite F word (franchise) since Alex Proyas first helmed it in 1994 starring the late Brandon Lee. Now, it returns for more supernatural grudge with "Wicked Prayer".

"Terminator 2" and "American History X" star Edward Furlong takes on the role of the immortal avenger in this fourth installment. Furlong stars as Jimmy, an ex-con and social outcast who plans to leave town with his Native American girlfriend Lily once his probation is up. But their designs for a fresh start are altered when they cross paths with a satanic cult called Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse headed by Luc Crash (David Boreanaz of "Angel") and his demonic bride Lola Byrne. Crash kills both Jimmy and Lily to consummate a ritual that will grant him supernatural powers.

What Crash doesn’t know is that Jimmy has reincarnated into the being known in Native American myth as "The Killer of Killers". To be reunited with Lily, Jimmy must square off with the Evil Incarnate himself to avert Luc and Lola’s plans. However, saving the love he and Lily shared will also mean saving the town that shunned him and drove him out.

"The Crow: Wicked Prayer" also boasts of a strong supporting cast that includes icon of fiendish cool Dennis Hopper, Tara Reid of "American Pie", "Van Wilder" and hip-hop artist Macy Grey. Lance Mungia of "Six String Samurai" takes over the helming chores this time around.

"The Crow: Wicked Prayer" is showing starting August 24. It is released by Viva International Pictures. (PR)
