Did Whedon End Buffy? Will He Cancel Angel?

All fans believes that Buffy ended because of Smg`s decision. But now, new information has come out...and Whedon perhaps may also end Angel.

Whedon seems to achieved that to some degree and is relieved that, thanks to renewal, no one will show up to the set of Angel and say "stop filming that now," but one day that phrase may well be spoken, and possibly by Whedon himself.

"It could happen," said Whedon. "I did that on Buffy. I was definitely done after seven years. A lot of people attribute that to [Sarah Michelle Gellar], but after seven years I was burnt out. I was just really worn down as we came into the seventh season. Of course we tried hard to make it great, but seven years is a long time and I was tired. Now were in the fifth year of Angel and I’m in a situation where we’ve gotten to the hundredth episode and I feel like the show has...found it’s place in the world."

    I think he is covering for SMG because she has taken all the flak for ending Buffy. I just don’t totally believe it since he has already said that the Kennedy/Willow relationship would have taken another year but when he realized that it would be the final season, he had to speed it up.

    I agree with blackarachnia I think Whedon is covering up a bit for Sarah but I also think that the long seven years took a toll on both the creator and the star. From what I have read some of the shoots took all day and night to film so I can imagine one would need a rest after a while. I really hope Joss will continue with Angel for at least another year and think about doing a Spike spinoff...please. Cananne

    Whedon comments are completely taken out of contex after reading the full interview. Angel is a very successfull show and we all hope that it will continue way past that of Buffy’s. I mean really who doesn’t love David Boreanaz.

    If JW cancels Angel argh, I’ll be SO ANGRY!! I mean, I´m from Spain, but I get all my US friends to tape me ATS Season 5 eps and send them to me, so as you can imagine I’m a big fan, he can’t do that! By the way, I love DB, he is just great

    Angel is by far the best tv show around, it has it all, not too mention the gorgeous David Boreanaz. I am the mother of 5 children and we all watch the show religiously. I do not know of any other show that can entertain the whole family.

    I hate the fact that Buffy is officially over and I would be so angry if they took angel off too. What would happen to Angel(David Boreanaz) and Spike(James Marsters)!!! I just hope that Buffy(Sarah Michelle Gellar) will make an appearance on there.

    Oh plz dont tell me that JOSS is thinking of letting ANGEL go. Now that BUFFY is gone, the fans have nothing left. I would like to see ANGEL go for at least a 6th season. ANGEL is a great show and I hope that JOSS will keep it goin for a while longer.

    Hi I’ve watch buffy from the first and angel also. Angel is still in progress and like to see more it’s refreshing and very different from the other shows on t.v. I never miss it because my v c r is programmed, it’s a geat show a little dissapointed that Cordy’s gone(the old not the last years mean one). She kinda of completed Angel with her special humour and intrigue.. Like to see the show around to make me laugh and just different from other shows on t.v Thanks Judy

    joss whedon listen to me!the fact is that angel hasnt run its course yet.there are so many stories left!all of my freinds watch this show.and if it is canceled then we wont watch the WB period!im sure you dont want that.were still getting over buffy becomeing canceled.DONT CANCEL ANGEL WHATEVER YOUI DO!

    OMG Angel is not a good show. u guys are talking like its the end of the world. Angel has always been sucky. Joss should have cut btvs off at season #50000 but ican’t do anything about so just cut it off and be through wit it. You go Joss. And why are you calling him on a first name bases the name is Mr. Whedon.

    Joss Whedon is the best creator ever in history! i think that all fans agree that the creators or writers should have more seasons cause come on buffy had 7 seasons so i think angel should deserve 6 or 7seasons at least.. ..cause theres alota fans out there including me who loved the show from the begining and want the show to still go on , ... cause come on buffy and angel are my FAVORITE SHOWS ON T.V i dont watch any thing else because other shows are just tooooo boring for me...i like things to be interesting and full of action like angel is and with only 5 seasons its like the shows still not very complete,,,, plus i’ve loved vampires stuff/myths since i was 6 years old and you should hav another season cause if you just end it at season 5 then all those fans out there who want a 6th season and still want to see more seasons in the future will probably be disapointed i’m not forcing you guys to make another season all i’m saying is that i would and thousands of fans out there would really love it to continue..!!!
