KTLA’s Angel Bits 11/6/03

Sunday 9 November 2003

Angel bits 11/6/03 •TV Gal is brooding and that’s never pretty. In her column this week she says that she’s getting a "ton of email" regarding Spike’s presence on Angel and how he simply doesn’t seem to be fitting in. We gotta say - hey folks and fans, give the undead a little time! Let the guy settle in! He needs to find his place at W&H, after all, he’s only had a couple of weeks of non-Hell-popping peace.

The Gal thinks the show is "doing a good job of balancing his presence on the show with the other action." But just as TV Gal writes, the show does need some serious XX chromosome balance (that’s some chick presence for you biologically-challenged). We couldn’t agree more on that count. Cordy left some big shoes to fill (and let’s not forget Lilah - even evil chicks are chicks!), and no one seems to be clicking with Eve yet.

Email TV Gal your thoughts and feelings on the new ANGEL season.

•We recently stumbled onto a very cool message from Joss Whedon. Prior to fall launch Angel creator/genius JW posted a personal note to all Angel fans (and Angel fans to be). We wanted to fill you in just in case you missed it. Joss spilled a little on what to expect this season including the fact that Harmony will be funny (and in a dress), and Angel will brood as Wesley continues to be British. Natch. The man, the myth, the legend also promises this will be a year to remember as you will experience all the evil you can imagine, vamps, ghosts, lawyers, you name it! But when it comes to Eve, don’t ask him what she’s all about…they haven’t written that in yet. We figured as much!

•Some new spoilers for you to enjoy, or not, depending if you do that type of thing. If you don’t do that type of thing, skip this next paragraph.

Juliet Landau (Drusilla) will be back in flashback form only on November 19th in that big flashback episode we told you about last week. Our Spike will be taking on the official corporeal form right around that time so expect his role in the W&H to expand - although the universe isn’t exactly thrilled with the fact that two vampires with souls are trolling around the universe.

And according to E! Television’s Kristen, David Boreanaz’s stunt double is doing double duty as DB is recovering from knee surgery and is on crutches. Expect to see him sitting in many a scene near you for the time being but we’re thinking that our boy will be back better than ever soon. And speaking of being back - it’s confirmed that Charisma Carpenter will guest on one episode, but Buffy is out for sure.

•If you had an extra 10,000 smackeroos sitting around taking up space, you and a few of your closest friends could have bid on a visit to the set of Angel this season. That’s right - Ebay, who most recently auctioned off David Boreanaz’s old Mercedes, is sending a fan to the actual set during the 2003-2004 season…for a price. The trip for four includes a day of observation of the director and actors (though no guarantee which series regulars will be working on day of visit) as well as a wooden stake that has been signed by Angel himself! Certainly a Craft Services visit will be included but that’s not mentioned. This particular auction closed on November 5th but do not despair! It appears that the fine folks at Angel are enjoying this whole auction thing and expect to see more in the future!
