Angel

National ratings for Angel

Thursday 2 October 2003

On another considerably positive relocated programming move, the WB’s Smallville opened season three with a hefty (and third place) 6.7/11 at 8 p.m. Smallville bested UPN’s competing Enterprise (#6 : 4.0/ 6) by 67 percent while outdelivering the season premiere of former time period occupant Dawson’s Creek by 43 percent over the year ago night (4.7/ 7 on Oct. 2, 2002). At 9 p.m., however, although the season premiere of the WB’s Angel (#5 : 4.4/ 7) beat UPN’s fading Jake 2.0 (#6 : 2.6/ 4) by 69 percent, retention of just 66 percent from Smallville is alarming.

At 9 p.m., "The West Wing," 10.6/16, put NBC in front. "The King of Queens" opened on its new night with a solid 8.9/13 for an hour-long episode. "The Bachelor" averaged 6.9/10 for ABC, down from its premiere. Some of its fans may have wandered over to the conclusion of "Paradise Hotel," which scored a 6.0/9 in its final hour. "Angel," 3.8/6, held on to most of its lead-in to keep The WB in fifth, beating out "Jake 2.0" on UPN.

The wb’s ’smallville,’ ’angel’ smash upn duo tops netlet by almost 50% in households, adults 18-49
