New Spike Bust January 2005 - Medium Quality Photos

I had the good fortune of being able to examine two Spike busts (to see which I prefered) so I was able to compare the paint jobs.

As with some of the recent 6 inch figures (Angel, Fred), Bust (Buffy vs Dracula) and the last ornament assortment, the skin-tone is still pale. On this bust it wasn’t too distracting, though. I would like Diamond to change this latest trend and give their characters richer skin tones, but since I don’t think my Spike Bust appears sallow and sickly (just pale), I can live with it.

One problem I did find was with the stain glass window. The stain glass appears to be a single piece with different colors throughout. The lead (metal dividers? I can’t think of the right word) are then attached on top. One of the two Spike busts metal pieces were attached too far off to the side so that the metal piece ran right through the center of the orange cross. (Just something to keep an eye out for).

I’m quite happy with the sculpt, I think he looks really good. I definately recommend getting this bust, though I will say again, I really hope Diamond starts to add warmer skin tones to their future figure releases.
