The listing for Mirror Image is a placeholder for a new Serenity novel, but we’re still waiting for final word from Joss on what direction the novels might take. About a dozen authors (including me) have submitted proposals for the two novels, but we’ve been in a holding pattern. Joss himself told me at the Flanvention last weekend that he needs to see what the DVD sales are like, and that will have an impact on what the future of the franchise is generally — including the novels. So there will be two more Serenity novels — it was part of the contract for the novelization — but at this point the likelihood of a summer release is pretty much nonexistent.
