Rob Thomas briefly notes the difference between Buffy and Veronica Mars

Saturday 13 May 2006, by Webmaster

Question: Have you considered giving Veronica some self-defense classes at some point, so she can at least defend herself a little bit? - Jessica

Thomas: I don’t want the show to be about Veronica kicking ass. Alias and Buffy were great at that sort of thing. Veronica outwits people. And occasionally Tasers them. That’s how I like it.

  • Okeyyy, that sounds odd. Yeah, Veronica’s weapon is her wit. Sydney Bristow’s weapon is her physical strenght. Buffy’s weapon is her psicological/emotional strength. Let’s not forget that Buffy is a metaphor and violence is a metaphor too. It’s not about kick ass. It’s about not letting life take you down. And she’s also get a LOT of wit while doing it.

So, in that point of view (a true point of view) Buffy and Veronica are still quite alike, in superficially different ways.
