Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Deluxe End of Days Faith

Diamond Select ( 2005)

Faith took control of the extended gang-o-scoobies...and got them blown up. Not the first time she’s messed things up and probably won’t be the last, but we do love to see the bad girl fight for the good guys. Now, it’s time for every able bodied Slayer, potential and extended Scooby family member to take up arms... and axes...and cross bows...and anything with a point to it...

End of Days Faith is articulated with a pegged and hinged head, swivel shoulders, upper bicep swivels, double hinged elbows, pegged and hinged wrists, mid-torso ball joint, pegged and hinged hips, upper thigh swivels, double hinged knees, pegged and hinged ankles and mid-foot hinges. With her alternate bare arms in place, you’ve got pegged and hinged shoulders, lower shoulders swivels, double hinged elbows, wrist swivels and wrist hinges. There are very few issues with balance as Faith’s body type is slim with no odd pieces to weigh it in any direction. The little feet aren’t even that much of a problem with plenty of points to tweak below the waist line (again with the dirty talk...sorry.) With hands ready to grip the Slayer Scythe, you’ll have a blast having Faith take on The Hulk.

Again, the sculpt on this Faith is a mixed bag as Diamond Select comes closer to a proper Faith likeness but just misses the mark. As I’ve mentioned in just about every other review, these are pre-production samples, so expect there to be improvements in seams showing, spru marks and paint bunching. As we’ve seen before, these little tweaks can make a huge difference! Faith has hair made of soft rubber, like her jacket, as to not hinder articulation.

Paints are fairly solid. The eyes on my figure are a liiiiiiittle wonky, but passable from just two feet away. All other facial features seem tight and well executed. A light brushing of color is used to play up wear on Faith’s jacket while the same effect is used on her shirt and pants to add dimension and add to the realism of the over all look. Her nails are painted red on the jacketed arms and not at all on the bare ones. Maybe someone could tell me if this is frighteningly show accurate?

Faith comes packed with a stake, the Slayer Scythe, her knife and her alternate bare arms, complete with hussy tattoo. Hit up AMAZING TOYZ to grab End of Days Faith while the world is still here. Muahahahahahaaaaa Yes, Cheesy.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Deluxe End of Days Buffy

Diamond Select ( 2005)

Buffy has faced more than one apocalypse and always fought it back. She’s even died to prevent them. Now, this is the end game...well..again. The Hellmouth will open one last time and spill out an army of uber vamps bent on devouring the world.

End of Days Buffy is articulated with a pegged and hinged head, swivel shoulders, upper bicep swivels, double hinged elbows, pegged and hinged wrists, mid-torso ball joint, pegged and hinged hips, upper thigh swivels, double hinged knees, pegged and hinged ankles and mid-foot hinges. With her alternate bare arms in place, you’ve got pegged and hinged shoulders, lower shoulders swivels, double hinged elbows, wrist swivels and wrist hinges. Balance is great as Buffy’s body is light with no large pieces to weigh her in any direction. The Slayer Scythe doesn’t even topple her much, being a slight piece of plastic, so you won’t be denied all those death dealing poses.

Buffy’s sculpt will not leave anyone wanting! Her likeness is pretty damn near perfect. Her clothing contains folds and wrinkles to add extra realism and dimension. Buffy’s hair is sculpted of a soft rubber, as is the part of the jacket over her torso, as not to hinder articulation. Her arms pop off easily and the bare arms align smoothly with her body. It’s nice to see companies running with the alternate arms idea as it is a HUGE bonus for collectors. When SOTA busted out their Lara Croft with this feature, we were happy to see a company taking the best that Japanese toys had to offer and incorporating the technology in our toys. Now Diamond Select seems to be adapting the same ideals to make some superior action figures fans seem very happy with.

Paints are probably the best out of the whole lot. Facial features are rendered clean and tight. Her jacket has a light brushing of a lighter blue to show wear. Even her pants have the slightest of dark brushing to play up artificial shadows. She’s even got little white fingernails!

Buffy comes packed with a stake, the Slayer Scythe and her alternate arms which, in a pinch, can be used as leftovers of dead potentials to beat over the heads of uber vamps! FUN!! Hit up AMAZING TOYZ to grab End of Days Buffy before you miss out and are left sobbing in your Cheerios.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Deluxe Once More With Feeling

Diamond Select ( 2005)

Sometimes, the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is dark and relentless and unforgiving. Then again, sometimes, it’s downright goofy. Once More with Feeling will forever be a fan favorite, with characters bursting into song and dance without a moment’s notice while still delivering vital plot points! Trust me when I say, you’d have to watch it to get it.

Once More With Feeling Buffy comes articulated with a pegged and hinged head, pegged and hinged shoulders, lower shoulder swivels, double hinged elbows, upper wrist swivels, wrist hinges, mid-torso ball joint, pegged and hinged hips, upper thigh swivels, double hinged knees, pegged and hinged ankles and mid-foot hinges. With more articulation than you can shake a Marvel Legends figure at, the poses keep on coming, limited only by your imagination, which could be a concern when you’re playing with Buffy. Dirty dirty toy fans. Lots of points to tweak means that balance is not much of an issue, even with tiny little feet.

This sculpt has very few bad points! You’ll find a very reasonable likeness of Buffy here. Soft rubber is used on her hair, spiraling around her shoulders adding movement to the sculpt while not hindering articulation. Wrinkles and folds in Buffy’s shirt and pants play up the realism. I do take issue with the giant seems running down Buffy’s sides, but Diamond Select will be quick to remind us that these are PRE-PRODUCTION SAMPLES and these problems have been noted and are being corrected. YAY! See? It doesn’t take much to please the geeks.

Paints are very solid. A light black brushing is used across Buffy’s shirt to accentuate the folds, physique and play up dimensions. Facial features are rendered with perfection. There are no visible paint bleeds or missed hits. Even her nails are tight!

Buffy comes packed with her trusty..umm..pool cue..and a stake! You can still pre-order Once More With Feeling Deluxe Buffy from Time and Space Toystoday!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Deluxe Bad Girl\’s Faith

Diamond Select ( 2005)

Faith likes to play by her own rules. “With great power comes great responsibility” has undergone a little edit in her world. Now Faith wants to share her vision with Buffy. It’s a simple process....want...take....happy Girl. Unfortunately when you act on impulse, there are always innocents to get in the way, as one poor man finds out when he meets the bad end of Faith’s stake. Now, Faith begins her decent into her own private hell.

Bad Girls Faith comes articulated with a pegged and hinged head, pegged and hinged shoulders, lower shoulder swivels, double hinged elbows, upper wrist swivels, wrist hinges, mid-torso swivel, pegged and hinged hips, upper thigh swivels, double hinged knees, pegged and hinged ankles and mid-foot hinges. With plenty of points found below the waist (and no this isn’t a dirty Faith joke), the figure can retain all the battle poses you’ve been dreaming of..and some we’d rather not hear about. Balance is not an issue with swivels in all the right places. Wow, the innuendos could just keep coming, couldn’t they!

Sculpt is solid, though the likeness always seems a little off. Like I’ve said before, Faith must just be hard to capture. Hair sculpted from soft rubber hangs around her shoulders. Her vest is also made from this soft rubber, both allowing for added dimensions and detail without obscuring articulation. Faith’s shirt pulls against her body with folds and wrinkles in some places and her physique showing through in others.

The paints on this figure should be more to a fan’s liking with the darker “hussy” theme in her makeup. Facial features are rendered excellently with no visible bleeding or missed hits. A very light grey wash is used over Faith’s shirt to play up reality and shadow. With all of these elements, this is easily my favorite Faith of the bunch.

Faith comes packed with a bow, arrow and stake, still bloody with the mayor’s assistant. You can still pre-order Bad Girls Deluxe Faith from Time and Space Toys today!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Deluxe Graduation Day Faith

Diamond Select ( 2005)

Faith is the fallen angel...with wings of razor blade feathers. Faith always seems to want to do the right thing, but she’s just not wired to follow rules or think things through. With ego and jealousy eating away at her mind, Faith was fair game for any dark power that would offer her acceptance and in its own twisted way...love.

Graduation Day Faith is articulated with a pegged and hinged head, swivel shoulders, upper bicep swivels, double hinged elbows, mid-torso swivel, pegged and hinged hips, upper thigh swivels, double hinged knees, pegged and hinged ankles and mid-foot hinges. With her alternate bare arms in place, you’ve got pegged and hinged shoulders, lower shoulders swivels, double hinged elbows, wrist swivels and wrist hinges. Balance is barely an issue with plenty of points to tweak on the lower half of her body. Even with accessories in hand, poised to strike, Faith can hold some excellent positions.

Sculpt is a mixed bag. This is no doubt one of the better likenesses done of the actress, but still falls a bit short. In Diamond’s defense, it seems like Faith is a hard subject to capture. We’ve seen waaaay worse! Popping Faith’s arms off allows you to slip off her jacket and put in bare arms with bonus articulation. These new limbs pop on and off easily and hang as if they were attached permanently. Faith’s hair and jacket are made of soft rubber as not to hinder articulation. As I stated in a previous review of Graduation Day Buffy, the seems and spru marks should not be a deciding factor for you in buying. Diamond has said these are pre-production pieces and will be correcting these problems before mass production. Either way, seeing is believing! I’m sure the internet will be flooded with pics of the final pieces soon enough and we may even be able to bring you some follow up shots.

Paints are tight on all facial features, with eyes rendered perfectly. I see on visible bleeding or missed hits. Even the logo on Faiths shirt is tight. The monochromatic paint scheme makes for a nice display, but leaves me without much to speak on. Faith’s jacket and pants have a semi gloss effect in contrast to a higher gloss on her boots and flat paints on her shirt and skin tone. I love when this comes together as it adds elements of reality and further dimensions to an already dynamic piece.

Faith comes packed with a camo painted crossbow, arrow, knife, pipe for Buffy bashing and her alternate arms. Hit up AMAZING TOYZ to grab Faith before all the fan boys learn of her new booty shakability and snap them up!

Deluxe Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Graduation Day Buffy

Diamond Select ( 2005)

Buffy has died and returned. In the moment of her demise, a new slayer was called and began her training...but this slayer would not follow the rules. Faith ditches her watcher and takes off on a journey that would take her across the planet and straight into hell. When you don’t admit to your own demons, they can consume you. Now, Faith has embraced a dark soul and hopes to aid in a coming apocalypse..but the true slayer of this age will stand in her way. It’s like Thunderdome without Tina Turner...two slayers enter...only one leaves. This time, Buffy will be the hunter. Cue the music!

Graduation Day Buffy come super articulated, for the first time ever, with a pegged and hinged head, pegged and hinged shoulders, upper shoulder swivels, double hinged elbows, mid-arm swivels, hinged wrists, a ball jointed upper torso, pegged and hinged hips, upper thigh swivels, double hinged knees, pegged and hinged ankles and mid-foot hinges. This girl is ready to take on the Marvel Legends crew now!! These numbers are to be equated to the jacketless body that has maximum points. WITH the jacket on, the shoulders are merely pegged into a mid-bicep swivel, double elbows, wrists swivel and hinged. Balance is excellent with plenty of points to tweak below the waist to stick a pose. We all know that with double knees and elbows, the sky is the limit for a dramatic stance. Soft rubber hair helps to throw head movement into the action, lending more drama to a specific look you may be seeking.

The sculpt is a mixed bag here. There are going to be arguments over this for some time...as those of us who are articulation junkies have always wanted a butt kicking Buffy while the purists would like things to stay just the way they are, only with better likenesses. No doubt, this line of figures has the best Buffy likeness we’ve seen so far on a figure, statue or bust. Beyond that, you’ll find the joints that are a necessary evil if you’re going to articulate. Diamond has managed to minimize this where they can and mask what they can not..so 10 full points for effort. Buffy’s hair wraps around her face, adding movement to the overall picture. You’ll also find soft rubber on her jacket, allowing for easy removal.

Paints are simple with basic flat flesh tones on skin, lightly glossed black on her shirt and reddish jeans, into a higher glossed black for her shoes. A very light gloss is thrown into her sandy blonde hair. Facial features seem nice and tight. Though I would have liked to see some washes for highlighting her jeans and arms, the entire look is still successful. I’m also told that the bunchy feel of the paint in some areas and seams you may see in the pics below are being corrected in pre-production! Nice to see a company on top of things.

Accessories include handcuffs for those rough nights with Angel..or Spike...or Faith in this case..but not the way you dream it would be! Bad monkey. Also included are a rolled up diploma and a scorched Sunnydale year book. Keep in mind all the figures in the Deluxe line come in clamshell packaging for the collectors in the house. Hit up one of our excellent advertisers for a great pre-order deal on these super articulated figures while you still can!
