Will the Queen be amused? US actress Sarah Michelle Gellar -in town the other night for the premire of her latest film Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed - has been talking about her touristy attempts to distract Her Majesty’s guards from their steely gaze outside Buckingham palace.

"When I first came to london I drew up a list of all the tourist attractions I wanted to see and it’s only on this visit that I’ve got the last few ticked off. In fact, I got finished a day early so yesterday I went to Buckingham Palace and spent the whole afternoon trying to get one of the Queen’s guards to move" confessed Sarah, 26, at last friday’s premiere at Islington’s Vue Cinema.

The actress, best-known for her vampire-battling antics in Buffy, added: "I pulled every trick I knew. I was pulling funny faces and telling jokes but those guys just don’t move an inch. It’s really impressive. I think some of them should think about a career in acting."
