In the Freddie session. Freddie Prinze just talked about Buffy ... and was far more frank than Sarah might be....
Q: Any chance of Buffy coming back ?
Freddie : No. Not with Sarah. I’ve never heard anything of it coming back whatsoever. I think Joss is on the movie train now and that’ s going well and he’s going to continue that.
Q: What about a movie ?
Freddie : They already made one and it didn’t work. That’s why they made the TV show. It worked so well as a tv show. We were in Bali, and someone came up to her and said, "Buffy!" So I don’t think Sarah would want to invest in something that’s already failed once. 56

It really irritates me the way Freddie and a few others talk about it being a failure as a movie once, so it automatically guarantees any other film of Buffy being a failure too. Buffy the film and tv show are very different animals for exactly one reason. Joss Whedon. The movie failed because it was taken away from Joss and dumped on by everyone else from its cast to its director. The tv show was a success because of the fact Joss had complete control. So for Freddie to be spouting off about never doing a Buffy movie becuase it’d be a failure because the last movie was is nothing short of idiotic.
Then again Freddie Prinze Jnr’s opinions on what is good/bad or succesful/failure are hardly worth listening too judged on his films.

That’s likely do to that the actress and production sucked!! They didn’t listen to what Joss said... while with the show it was all Joss. It’s stupid to think that Sarah wouldn’t do it coz of that. ’Kay, FPJ should shut his hole. I just don’t like hearing him talk, much less about things he’s speculating toward. But you know what? There’s really nothing here that we haven’t heard before. I don’t think Joss has *ever* said anything about a feature Buffy film. It’s not the right medium for it, IMO. Kristin? I realize you’ve given up any pretense of credibility, but why are you talking to him in the first place, especially about Buffy?

You know, article like this really make me angry. I love Buffy and at one point I liked Sarah Michelle Gellar. But she is so ungrateful and so blind. There are hundreds of actress that would kill to have Buffy on their resume and most of the fans that go see her movies are Buffy fans. If she is not careful and doesn’t get that stake out of her butt, she is going to alienate all her fans and she won’t have a movie career. I want to see a Buffy movie, to see all helmouths closed and Buffy/Angel, happily ever after. I was the fan that went to see her movie because of Buffy. But Sarah Michelle Gellar is the biggest B*, and I don’t go to see her movies anymore. I hope her attitude changes and she embrace Buffy. It makes me so upset the things she say about being stuck with Buffy. I don’t know why she hates it so much. Nothing Sarah has said or done has shown she isn’t grateful for Buffy and I’m grateful for all the hard work she put into it for seven seasons.The same goes for David and the eight seasons he played Angel.I love B/A too but I would not want a movie unless Sarah was happy with the script,the same as the rest of the cast.I wouldn’t want a Buffy movie that way.A Buffy film should be special not something thrown togethsr to cash in.I’m sure if Joss wrote a killer script which she loved and did justice to all the characters and the Buffyverse within a 2 hour film,she would definitely consider doing it.If you’ve followed her interviews in the past year,you’ll see that’s what she has said numerously along with the points FPJ brings up here.Nothings changed in both regards I’m positive of.If Joss come to her with a script she likes then she’ll do it,until then she will not sign on site unseen and I wouldn’t have it any other way.I want all the actors excited about a script if one is presented.

I think Freddie, not being the brightest kid, said that there wasn’t a chance that SMG would do Buffy RIGHT NOW and not nessesarily forever. Hell, Sarah’s motto is "Never say never", she’s never ever said she was definatley not going to do a Buffy movie because there’s a chance she could get a really good script. There are two or three other comments here by people who think the series ended wonderfully and I’m in that group, too. And you know what? It seems Sarah and Joss are in it as well. IF I was FPJ, Id never comment on BTVS for any reason he just gets setup. Buffy the show is LEGENDARY, I wouldnot be in such a hurry to mess with that myself. If they do something new and its not as good they will get TRASHED for it. Dont say JOSS is a perfect because a TON of his *fans* killed him over season 6 and 7. Exactly why is SMG a B? She is an actress who played a role well for 7 years. It is off the air and she is still working. END OF STORY. She said it over and over if the script is good never say never but in the mean time she is moving on. JOSS HAS MOVED ON. Fact is everyone but James has moved on for now. Personally I think it was Freddie who talked Sarah out of playing the role as Buffy again. Once they got married, I have the feeling that he told her that television was too small for her, and that she should do movies and forget about Buffy. I’ve heard Sarah say before, that she hates being called Buffy, but then again thats just because she isnt the character. She wants people to see her as her and not the slayer. But then again if it is her that is so stuck up, would she feel better if people came up to her and said "Hey it’s Kathryn!" (cruel intentions) instead of "Hey it’s Buffy!"? Well wake up and smell the steak Mrs. Prinze, you are more famous for your role as Buffy Summers, than ANY other role you’ve ever had in your entire life, even the bigscreen ones.

Buffy’s dead. Joss killed her at the end of season five and with the exception of the musical didn’t look back. As Freddie says, Joss has moved on successfully into film. It’s time fans and television critics let both Sarah and Joss go onto whatever success their careers will bring them. Best of luck from me to both of them. They both have wonderful stories to tell and I will watch them both :)

i don’t think Freddie really knows what he is saying. Sarah has said in many many many interviews, a Buffy movie isn’t gonna happen soon, but that if a good script came along she would definitley look. She has said this many times, and she is always saying how proud she is to have had played such an amzing character, so I do think she is grateful for Buffy, and you never know about the future.

I just love how ignorant alot of fans are about things. Oh, and I’m talking to you J2U, in case anyone was wondering. She was meant to appear midseason, but backed out because of a familial obligation. Whedon and the gang never bothered to contact her again until after the it was learned the show was cancelled and by that time she was in Japan filming the Grudge. What was she supposed to do, walk off the set? She came back in time for the finale and *Joss* didn’t want her in it, so I’m not seeing how that’s her fault. Where’s the backlash against DB for saying he absolutely wouldn’t do Angel again unless for the big screen, which will never happen? Oh, but that’s different, of course, isn’t it? I love my sexist fandom.

Unfortunately DB has gotten simillar backlash for not wanting to play Angel again unless it was a theatrical film.Personally I agree with him about it being time to raise the bar if he reprised the role.As for Sarah on Angel,yes she was originally supposed to do the 100th episode and possibly another,probably the episode before it as well I think.She understandably had to back out when her aunt died and so they brought in Charisma instead.When Angel was canceled,Joss wanted to have her in episode 20 or 21 but she was already committed to The Grudge.The Angel cancelation caught everybody by surprise so they were scrambling.Joss already had the end of the season worked out before the were canceled.SMG couldn’t do those two episodes but she did offer to do the finale since she would be back from Japan then and available.Joss turned her down since,"Not Fade Away" was locked in at that point and episode 20 was already set in stone as well.TGIQ was concieved after they knew for sure Sarah wouldn’t be advailable,if she had been we would of gotten a very different episode 20 or 21.So SMG did want to do the last episode of Angel and even contacted Joss and offered to.

I find it incredibly lame how so many people here are bashing Freddie. You may not like what he had to say, but it’s the truth. This is coming from a fan of "Buffy", SMG, and Freddie. Buffy has had her time, and it’s good that everyone has moved on really. I’d like new ventures for both Joss and Sara, not retreads of the past.
Also, Freddie is currently working on his upcoming ABC sitcom, I believe. It looks like it could be hit or miss, but who knows. He’s still working, and he’s certainly had a nice niche film career in cheesy romantic comedies. Really, give or take he and his wife have fairly comparable careers as movie stars, though SMG certainly broke out with "The Grudge".

i am a sarah fan and i am personally ok if she doesn’t do a movie, i would love it but i’m ok w/out it. and i definitley wouldn’t want a movie without her, so i’m not sure if i would watch one with anyone else.
buffy ended when it was suppossed to, and although angel ended prematurely, i think they should both stay where they are when they ended.
don’t get me wrong, i am a B/Aer and would love to see a movie, but im ok if they don’t. i mean it could be a horrible mmovie, considering, what are they gonna do with the plot?
sarah has said that one of the reasons it would be hard to do a movie is because it would be hard to tell a whole story in 2 hours, that buffy worked because you saw them grow, etc. and that would be hard to do in a movie.
but she has NOT said never to a movie, so i think ppl really need to stop bashing her and saying she is ungrateful. she has stated numerous times how much she loved being on buffy, how "amazing" it was, that it was "a decision she would 2nd guess for a long time", and it was "virtually impossible" to end.
so i think we should be grateful for all that she has given and done for us!!

Sarah Michelle gellar i admit should do a little more interviewing and i know she wants to put buffy behind her, but when ever shes on a show or in a new movie, they’re going to introduce her as Buffy the Vampire slayer. the names always going to stay with her.
Plus shes a great actress, but i think she should stop doing ’scary’ movies all the time ( im ignoring the fact that she was in scooby doo) and do some more films like cruel intentions, shes great at playing a bitch.

Sarah won’t do Buffy anymore, BIG DEAL. There are probably alot of other actresses that would love to jump into the shoes that Sarah did with Buffy. Just because she acted the part doesnt make her the character. The actress that did the voice for the video games did a damn good job IMHO. If there is going to be a movie, I would like to see her act the part rather than SMG. As for DB, he said he would do an Angel movie even after he stated he wouldn’t do the t.v. show again.

Why does Freddie feel he has to speak for his wife all the time? He said something not long after Sarah quit the show that pissed a bunch of people off. Something about Sarah not being appreciated on the show, which I could kinda tell just from watching it. I give the girl credit for sticking with the show as long as she did. They DESTROYED her character and I wish the show would have ended before it did simply because of that.
Anyway, I never liked Freddie, not even before she married him. It just seems that whenever he opens his mouth, something comes out that shouldn’t.

I have a mixed opinion I want a Buffy movie And I want to see Sarah in it but if Sarah never does anything Buffy again I won’t hate her. The same with David and James...we’re lucky we got that much.... As for what Freddy said I really don’t thank people should be doging him out casue it’s the reporters fault she’s talking to Freddie not sarah if she want to know something about Buffy she should ask Sarah cause then we would know exactly what’s going on so, the story here is the report is stupid!!!! Furthermore, I’d rather see an Angel film on the big screen (I agree, don’t think any of the shows should go back to tv)Angel had a clifhanger, if they could get Buffy and Angel together in one film that would be great but if they were 2 different movies I would rather see Angel. Someone posted earlier that Sarah asked to be in the finale. That is incorrect. She said she wouldn’t do the finale long before Joss ever said that. He just said that because of his massive ego. He was mad because Sarah wouldn’t travel thousands of miles from Japan and fall at his feet. He badmouths her( and Charisma) and it gets old. Buffy is dead. Keep it that way. Sarah can become a movie star or do another tv show. She needs to do something different for her career. Who cares what you people want her to do. She has plenty of fans that never ever ever ever want her to do Buffy again. I didn’t even like the show in the last couple years. Alyson can act.
