Vampire Fest Sees Light of Day

Friday 1 August 2003, by Webmaster

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Break out the sunblock.

The International Press Academy will hold its first Vampire Film Festival in Los Angeles on Sept. 27 and 28.

"We want your vampire films," says festival director Tim Cogshell, "and if you don’t have one, get out the Mini DV cam and make one."

Festivalgoers will be able to sink their teeth into an eclectic selection of independent and studio produced vampire films at the two day event. A short film festival component will allow independent filmmakers to debut their vampire film shorts during the film series.

Film submissions should be postmarked Aug. 30. Vampire film shorts can qualify for awards in various categories including bloodiest, scariest and best portrayal of a vampire for acting.

Real vampires are invited to attend the Gothic Vampire Costume Ball at the culmination of the film series, where filmmakers, celebrities and the undead will meet, mingle and perhaps partake in a bloody mary.

"This unique film series and festival will explore the myths and icons of vampires in cinema’s past, present and future," says Asif Ahmed, an IPA board member and film series/festival director. "A bloody good time should be had by all."

The Los Angeles Film School will co-sponsor and host the event. For more information on the film series and festival please visit www.PressAcademy.com/festival.
