  The article says the owner of the original wants to keep unknown? Well I already know who owns the original - Joss Whedon. He stated in an article it’s the only prop he kept for the show and won’t let go of. :)

  there were 7 made in total, 2 had chrome finishes but these couldn’t be used all the time as it would reflect areas of bare set, and production crew, you are right Joss owns the original one used in the battle scene!

  but a few monthes ago during the FOX auctioning of props, a full size scythe was made available, and it sold for $15,000. If you read the ebay page of this auction you will read that its that scythe that the seller is talking about. The Scythe looks great, its about time some cool merchandise like this was made available.

  actually Corey there were 3 scythes made! the metal one for close ups (Joss) the rubber one for fight scenes (this one) and another one for "blood stains" and running (blunt edges completely)

  actually, the actual scythe isn’t owned by Joss Whedon, it owned by a dude called Don (dont know his last name and wouldnt tell you if I did cause he’d probably be robbed by hardcore buffy fans) who paid $15,000 for it. The ebay item is an exact copy of the original because mark (the seller) got deisgn measurements and stuff from Don. I’d have thought you guys would know this as there was huge hype about fox selling the original scythe on ebay. Wish I had $15,000!
