  • Wow I love Angel/DB but the more I read hit interviews...bleh. I don’t know why he has that attitude. Angel MADE him, by playing the character again he’s not going back to anything. That’s part of who he is man.

God damn. And he still kinda looks like he did in season 5 (ie : fat).

  • Wow...he’s a very open person. Huh ? I like that. I was kinda shocked to hear him so the ’f’ word though. lol

  • I felt like they didn’t give Angel a chance. David could have made it a great show and the the way it was ended was ended was all wrong. David deservered better than all of that and also the cast. I wish you would bring Angel back !

    Sincerely Fan,

  • Angel is a good show as we rememeber it, but it is better to end a show before it gets the opportunity to get worse like buffy did

  • I’m glad that this interview didn’t give me the idea that DB was glad Angel ended. He seemed to be a little bit more considerate and he actually brought up the fans (I thought he didn’t even know we existed) and it’s good to hear that he too thinks the WB made a mistake by cancelling the show. I think this was a good interview. He seemed nice and honest.

  • I Liked the interview...Sounds like hes pleased with how things went...if You cant be true to your self, how can you ever be true to your fans....Its a shame Angel finished I would of liked 1 more season but hay it was his disission and his time to do other things..And he has,hes made quite a few movies since Angel...David is open with the whole sex thing(ice cream on a womens nipples).I laughted at that...But ending on Angel,I do hope one day he will do a Angel movie...Ill be first in line for a ticket....(Reunions wouldnt work sounds tacky so I agree with David there.)..

  • About the first post. And still there are people who wonders why are so many anorexic teens. DB has the apparence of a healthy, very handsome man. I’m tired of seeing people who apparently are starving, and we are supposed to take them as beauty models. I like to see a man who looks like a healthy adult, not an anorexic teen. I like the interview. He seems like a good person.

  • It’s kind of sad he doesn’t stay in touch with old cast members. You’d sort of assume after 8 years alltogether they’d have been close enough friends to spend time after "work."

  • While I did enjoy Angel, it’s over and done. I can understand why David would want to move on... and in Hollywood that is the wise thing to do.

  • Great interview ! David is gorgeous as always. Can’t wait for his new show ! I’ll be first in line for any movie he’s in too. This guy has definitely won my heart. Going out for ice cream now ! :D

  • He is NOT fat. He has a naturally thicker build. Which, I like. And even if he wa fat (which he’s not). SO WHAT ?! He’s still the hottest man in the world.

  • well compared to the DB of Buffy seasons 1-3 and Angel seasons 1-2 through the episode ’reprise’ he’s fat.

  • David B. is a guy I have alot of respect for the more I read his interviews... people knock him and like to point out how "Angel made him", etc. as if he owes something to keep playing Angel- who the same fans would love to simply see as Spike’s sidekick forever- for the rest of his career. I think that when the fans see someone who dont have the intensity and passion for the Joss-universe that they do, they cant accept it. Boreanaz is right, a reunion would be BAD. tell me the reunion tv movie that was good. if it came out, its possible that it would be bad, and then you’d all have something else to whine about... I’ll tell you what, maybe a 7 hour movie about Spike becoming human and marrying Buffy will come on, and the lot of you can relax and get on with things.

  • What scares me is that I Don’t think Muse was joking. Anyway :

James Marsters on Life After Buffy By Karen Butler United Press International

CATSKILL, N.Y., June 11 (UPI) — The final episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" left rabid fans debating several burning questions, among them : did Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) mean it when she told reformed vamp Spike (James Marsters) she loved him ?

Talking to more than 800 spellbound fans at a Moonlight Rising "Buffy" convention over the weekend, Marsters offered his take on the series finale, stating unequivocally that Spike died knowing Buffy never loved him, but deeply appreciative of the fact she said she did.

"It’s true," Marsters insisted. "It’s the truth and he shows his manhood by saying so. Yeah. I thought that what the final episode did very well was admit that Buffy really is in love with Angel. That the sexual relationship she had with Spike was unhealthy. That it was unwise.

"It was fun to watch, but it wasn’t good for Buffy and that Buffy was discovering a level of respect newly for Spike that she hadn’t felt before and as a friend, she knew he loved her and she wanted to give him something because he’s about to die and he shows the strength to say : ’Well, no. That’s very kind of you to say, but that’s not true’ and I’m comfortable with that. I don’t need to be Buffy’s one. I think that would have been really strange. Thematically, it would have been really difficult. Spike was evil. They never really played Spike as the boyfriend you ever really want to have... The truth is, if a guy is a jerk to the rest of the world, he’s going to be a jerk to his girl or his lady or his woman. Nice guys rule !"

The handsome 40-year-old California native also said he found it disturbing that although he kept trying to reveal Spike’s evil side to the show’s viewers, his all-too-forgiving fans stood by their vamp. Therefore, in order to turn people against Spike, he said, the show’s writers added a shocking scene where he tries to rape Buffy at the end of the series’ penultimate season.

Spikey’s girl : Yeah, we always loved him icon

"(Attacking) Buffy to prove my love ? Hello !" he remarked, incredulous. "So, I started to get uncomfortable because people still wanted Buffy and Spike to be together, the same way I was uncomfortable with smoking too much because a lot of young kids watch and I didn’t want to make that cool."

Asked what it was like to film that infamous scene, the nice-guy actor grimaced, "That was the hardest day of my life."

"I have turned roles down because they are rapists," he confessed. "It’s something I don’t even want to watch. If I even click on it on TV, I have to click it off or I’ll put my foot through the screen... What you see on that screen is just my terror at having to do that scene. There’s not really any acting going on and I haven’t watched the scene. I’ve seen little clips. You know, ’previously on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."’ They show it sometimes and I’m always like, ’Oh, God.’ I hope that since Spike has a soul he’s not capable anymore of doing anything like that. That’s what I really hope. That they won’t bring him back in that state of mind... The writers are fabulous, but when I showed up on set that day I told them : ’Sometimes you guys just don’t know what you do. You just do not know what you’re asking us...’ I’m proud of it artistically, but as a human being I never, never, never want to do a scene like that again and I will always refuse because I know what it does to me."

Marsters is set to reprise the role of Spike next season on the WB’s "Buffy" spin-off, "Angel," but the actor hinted that he and the show’s namesake probably won’t be battling evil saide-by-side.

"I really hope that Spike and Angel don’t get along at all," he admitted, a touch of mischief in his voice.

Noting that series creator Joss Whedon skillfully pit the two rehabilitated vampires against each other in the last episode of "Buffy" a few weeks ago, the actor quipped : "I said, ’Angel wears lifts.’ So, I don’t think we’re going to become allies. Hopefully, I don’t know what it’s going to be, but I want to make life as tough as possible for Angel and, of course, everyone knows Joss always listens to me."

Marsters also took the opportunity to dismiss rumors that Spike, the vampire with a soul, would return from the dead as a human.

"Spike become a human ?" he mused in mock horror. "How boring is that ? No, he’s not going to do that. That’s just misinformation. God help me."

  • I wasn’t joking- and you didnt tell me anything I didn’t know, but I’m glad you posted that interview. Marsters is right, and I love Spike as a character too, and am not partial or biased as a fan, but the blind worship of Spike is just annoying. I’ve heard so many fans just say "Spike should get the shanshu, because Spike is awesome !" Bad reasoning. Buffy is always going to love Angel, I’m sorry he isn’t as charismatic and witty as Spike.

  • David is a great guy, he is open and honest and respects his fans. His show was cancelled, he didn’t just leave, so he has every right to move on with his life and his career. David is certainly not fat, he has the gorgeous body of a grown man, not the slim boy he was in "Buffy" 1-3, and is all the *Hotter* for it.

Why has this turned into a discussion about Spike ? I can’t stand Spike, he gets in everywhere :-(

    Répondre à ce message

  • I agree. Spike finds his way in every single discussion now. Even on the boards about Davids latest movies, there are questions like "Why not James ?" It´s really getting tiresome.
