David’s five-year-contract come to an end..does it ?

Monday 19 January 2004

David Boreanaz had reservations about the reinvention this year of his "Angel" series- which plunked the action hero into an extremely high-end law firm with unique otherworldly cases, and added James Marsters’ Spike character (from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") to the cast.

"I welcomed his coming in, but I didn’t know how the switch would work," he says. But now he feels the risk paid off. "They’re taking my character once again to a totally different place. Every year I play him differently, and it keeps everything new and fresh."

Boreanaz is directing this week’s episode, "Soul Purpose," and promises fans will see his stamp. And pretty soon it will be contract renegotiation time for Boreanaz, who is in the fifth year of a five-year deal.

"I don’t know what’s going to happen. I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it. Actually, I have no comment!"
