FOX becomes latest network to team with Apple

The world-saving abilities of Jack Bauer and Buffy Summers now come in convenient downloadable form.

FOX and some of its corporate siblings are the latest networks to join forces with Apple to offer TV episodes on the computer company’s iTunes service. Starting today, users will be able to download current FOX and FX shows like "24," "Prison Break" and "The Shield," plus older shows like "Lost in Space," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly" that 20th Century Fox produced.

"We’re committed to delivering our content to consumers in as many ways as possible," says Peter Levinsohn, president of Fox Digital Media. "Today, with some of the world’s premier television content, Fox is bringing unprecedented depth — in a single launch — to the iTunes Music Store."

The FOX partnership with iTunes also includes shows from News Corp.-owned cable networks Speed and Fuel TV. In addition to the three current dramas and the two Joss Whedon shows, users can also download episodes of FX’s comedy "It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia," unscripted shows "30 Days," "Black. White." and "Unan1mous" and, even though it’s not on the air anymore, the Pamela Anderson sitcom "Stacked."

As with most other video downloads on iTunes, episodes are available for $1.99 each.

FOX joins ABC/Disney and NBC Universal in offering its shows on iTunes. The service now has some 90 shows in its library.
